Joseph meets the animals . . .
Catching up with our friend Keith. He was the opening act for the evening's entertainment headliner. Check out his website.
On our way to buy Joseph his first Elephant Ear. It was a hit. (momma enjoyed it too.)

You have no idea how exhausting my life is . . .
after all . . . I had to get up early this morning so Momma & Daddy could be at church for worship team practice. Then I spent 2 1/2 hours playing in the nursery while Momma & Daddy taught Sunday School, sang with the worship team and listened to the sermon. Then Momma let me run around the church yard while Daddy finished up some deacon stuff at the church. THEN they took me to lunch at East Bay Deli . . . and expected me to be able to stay awake through lunch? Seriously? It's all just too much for a little guy . . . .

4:15 pm - Momma gives me a taste of what she's been making in the kitchen - homemade tortillas. I love them.

It happened one Friday morning...
I was getting ready to leave for work in our bedroom, something that I do every Monday through Friday morning. As I approached the closed bedroom door, I heard Joseph playing in the foyer between the living room and our bedroom, jabbering something to his mother. I quietly turned the doorknob, slowly opening the door and began to peek out into the foyer. Joseph was sitting with his back to me playing with his favorite toy - my mobile phone. I opened the door a little wider, enough for Joseph to notice that the door had opened. He turned around and saw me, his eyes widening and his mouth beginning to form a smile.
And then it happened...
Joseph has been "talking" for a while, but this was the first time that he communicated appropriately, at least more than the sobs of "mamamama" when he gets hurt.
I don't know how I made it to work after this...

Latest milestones
At 1 - Joseph is:
Walking - everywhere. He's been tottering around for a few weeks but seems to have really taken off in the last week or so and is going full-steam ahead.
Talking. He jabbers constantly and we've been able to interpret Momma, Daddy and night-night so far.
Signing. I haven't been as consistent with this as I should be. . . but he is able to sign "all done" and "milk."
Singing and dancing. Joseph loves to sing and be sung to. I usually get an applause from him after I sing him a song . . . . and there are times when he will sing with me. Maybe someday he'll be able to actually sing the words and be on tune. He also loves to dance when he hears a fun song.
Eating. Joseph loves, loves, loves food. And will eat pretty much anything. He loves Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets and waffle fries. He loves pizza, chinese food, oatmeal, pasta, fruit . . . well, pretty much anything I put in front of him. He also loves, loves, loves ice cream. And when that last bite is gone, you would think that the world has ended and there will never be ice cream again . . . . huge tears and everything.
Cleaning and trashing. Apparently the coffee table is meant to be completely cleaned off - all the time. This is especially bad if we happen to have a drink or bowl of food on it. Also - baskets are supposed to be empty. As are shelves. In fact, pretty much a day doesn't go by without everything within Joseph's reach being dumped on the floor. He trashes. . . I pick up. It's a fun game.
