July 2, 2013

On Tuesday morning around 2:15 AM I woke up feeling fairly uncomfortable with lots of lower back pain.  It would come and go and I was trying to get comfortable when my water broke.  I hopped out of bed and went to the restroom and then woke up Christopher.  I walked around the house a bit straightening up, unloading/loading the dishwasher, etc.  We called a friend to come stay with the boys, took showers and finished packing.  Fortunately I had a bag mostly packed for me and the baby and had actually repacked it the day before.  Once our sweet, sweet friend arrived we headed to the hospital.  Contractions were completely in my lower back and were about 4-5 minutes apart.

Here we are in the elevator.

We moved from triage into Labor & Delivery around 5:30 and they started prepping us for a c-section.  We started out at the top of the list but apparently the beginning of July is quite a popular time for babies and several emergencies bumped us quite a ways down the list.  I kept reminding myself that it was a good thing I was considered "stable" and eventually we would have this baby.
And we did!  Denbigh Annabelle was born at 12:54 pm.  My OB was on vacation (we had agreed that I would not have this baby while she was gone) and I was thrilled that Dr. Wendel (the high-risk dr. who oversaw my case and helped deliver Jacob) was able to be in the delivery room.  Dr. Nesmith (the attending pediatrician who was also present for Jacob's delivery) was there as well.
She check Denbigh out and said she was perfect and brought her over for a kiss.

Once in recovery I got to snuggle our sweet girl and feed her before she got her first bath.

Once we were settled into our room Daddy went and picked up the boys who were thrilled to meet their sister.  Joseph carried in flowers.
 Jacob carried in presents.
 Bigger Brother.
 Big Brother.
 Proud Daddy.
