Joseph and Rudy

At Christmas, Joseph barely knew that Rudy existed. Now it's a whole new ballgame. Joseph loves Rudy and the affection is eagerly returned. Joseph enjoys twisting Rudy's ear, smiling at him and heartily guffawing at his antics. Rudy shows his devotion by guarding Joseph's play area and licking him. (Rudy, in case you were wondering, is Aunt Megan's dog. They are in town for Megan & Chris's wedding.)

Playtime

Here are some pictures of Joseph not eating. . . . . ! ha ha.

Sweeeeet potatoes

Today we added sweet potatoes to Joseph's menu. . . and he loved, loved, loved them.

sooooo tired. . .

Joseph sat up and ate his dinner as usual . . . with his mouth open anticipating each bite. . . sometimes joined by an impatient grunting sound. I was fixing dinner while feeding him so he had to wait in between bites occasionally. I finished feeding him and took his bowl to the sink. Then I flipped the pork chops and when I turned back around. . . . this is what I found.

More pics of the little guy...

Bananas - Part 2

This afternoon's adventure with bananas went a little better!

Bananas - Part 1

This morning we tried out bananas. Joseph was not sure at all about them. Finally I mixed them in with his cereal and then he ate them a little better.

Quiet Baby

Joseph give a whole new meaning to "baby whisperer." We already knew he was a quiet baby. He doesn't cry often and gets a perplexed look if he is in the presence of loud talkers. But then he started whispering. . . . . yes, whispering. Christopher didn't believe me but then finally heard it for himself yesterday.

And here we thought he'd be developing his "squeal" in his fourth month . . . . . . . .

nap time

Normally I refrain from taking pictures of Joseph in his crib out of the overwhelming fear that he might wake up. However, I couldn't stop myself this morning. And, yippee, he didn't wake up! The reason for the risky move? I want to stare at the picture and contemplate how his puppy ended up where it did. . . . Usually he is in his "Linus pose." Puppy clutched in his left fist and his right fist (thumb) at his mouth. Maybe I'll take a risk again and get a picture of that later.

Cereal!

Last night was Joseph's first adventure in the highchair with some rice cereal. He was not so sure about it in the beginning. But by the end he was demanding more between each bite.

Thumb-sucker

Yep - we have a little thumb sucker on our hands. Since I was a pacifier girl myself, we're going to assume he gets this from his Daddy. Although he does enjoy a good bonding session with his "paci" now and then.

The other day he fell asleep with his paci under his face and then when he turned his head it stuck to him.

I think Joseph might be quite musical. He is really loving the Leap Frog musical table that Great-Aunt Mary gave him for Christmas. Momma will love it even more when he can stand up by himself to play. :-)

Our Big Boy!

Joseph went in for his 4-month check-up this afternoon and here are his official stats:

Weight = 17 pounds, 13 ounces = 92%
Height = 27 1/2 inches = off the chart
Head = 17 inches = 75%

He was a champ through his shots and fell asleep as soon as we got in the car. Poor kid.

sitting!

Joseph is starting to sit up (briefly!) on his own. Now he hates laying down. He tries to sit up in his car seat, in his bouncy seat and in his lounger.

Here are a couple of other pictures from this week:

I mean, seriously! Why just bat the toy around as it hangs from the bar above when I can take it off and gum on it for awhile?!
