38 week Pregnancy Survey

On Saturday morning I got an email update describing what my 38th week of pregnancy should look like.  This was Denbigh's response.

What our 38th week of pregnancy looked like:

Total weight gain/loss: -20 pounds.  yay!  I have lost the 9.5 pounds I gained along with the 10 I had lost/regained after the first 20 weeks of pregnancy.  The first 20 pounds always seem to come right off.  It's the rest of the weight that takes some time.

Maternity clothes? I did wear a maternity dress for our outing to the pediatrician and a family trip to Sam's.  Other than that I have been relaxing in pajamas.

Stretch marks? Yes - they are a little easier to see now.  Most of them were there before but there are a couple of new ones.  We'll be working on helping them fade.

Sleep: Sleep! Specifically - sleeping on my back!  It's awesome.  Baby girl is a great sleeper as well.

Best moment this week: Going into labor 2.5 weeks early and meeting our sweet girl.

Movement: It's so great seeing the little hands and feet that created so much chaos just a few days ago.

Food cravings: I am still craving salads . .  and fresh fruit.  We have been so blessed already by friends bringing us delicious meals.

Gender: Girl!  Denbigh Annabelle Swearingen

Labor Signs: Yes - we definitely had those.

Belly Button in or out? It was pretty flattened out.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

What I miss:
I know I will miss feeling her move in my belly but nothing compares to holding that sweet girl in my arms.

What I am looking forward to: Sleeping on my tummy.  :)

Weekly Wisdom:
 Be prepared!!!!!!

Since we've been home

We arrived home to a decorated mailbox.  (Thanks mystery crafter!)
The next morning we took Denbigh to her first dr. visit.  Joseph is a very helpful big brother.
Little girl did great at the clinic and is already putting some of her weight back on.
She loves being snuggled as much as we love snuggling her.

On the other hand - she pretty much hates getting undressed, changed and/or bathed.

She has been a great little sleeper only getting us up once at night for feedings.

July 2, 2013

On Tuesday morning around 2:15 AM I woke up feeling fairly uncomfortable with lots of lower back pain.  It would come and go and I was trying to get comfortable when my water broke.  I hopped out of bed and went to the restroom and then woke up Christopher.  I walked around the house a bit straightening up, unloading/loading the dishwasher, etc.  We called a friend to come stay with the boys, took showers and finished packing.  Fortunately I had a bag mostly packed for me and the baby and had actually repacked it the day before.  Once our sweet, sweet friend arrived we headed to the hospital.  Contractions were completely in my lower back and were about 4-5 minutes apart.

Here we are in the elevator.

We moved from triage into Labor & Delivery around 5:30 and they started prepping us for a c-section.  We started out at the top of the list but apparently the beginning of July is quite a popular time for babies and several emergencies bumped us quite a ways down the list.  I kept reminding myself that it was a good thing I was considered "stable" and eventually we would have this baby.
And we did!  Denbigh Annabelle was born at 12:54 pm.  My OB was on vacation (we had agreed that I would not have this baby while she was gone) and I was thrilled that Dr. Wendel (the high-risk dr. who oversaw my case and helped deliver Jacob) was able to be in the delivery room.  Dr. Nesmith (the attending pediatrician who was also present for Jacob's delivery) was there as well.
She check Denbigh out and said she was perfect and brought her over for a kiss.

Once in recovery I got to snuggle our sweet girl and feed her before she got her first bath.

Once we were settled into our room Daddy went and picked up the boys who were thrilled to meet their sister.  Joseph carried in flowers.
 Jacob carried in presents.
 Bigger Brother.
 Big Brother.
 Proud Daddy.
