"borrowed photos"

Aunt Aftin just put some great photos from Joseph's Nashville birthday on Facebook. . . . so I "borrowed" a few of them to show here. . . .

snack time

so I walk into the living room and see Joseph leaning over the couch and hear "mmmm - good" . . . . and then I see this.Yes, Joseph . . . it is perfectly ok to help yourself to snacks . . . especially when you dump the whole box out on the couch.

Who thinks I need to move the snacks up to a higher shelf?

joseph's 2nd birthday - part 2

part 2 of joseph's birthday train was held in Charleston this past weekend. on Saturday evening we enjoyed dinner with friends at our other home - a.k.a. Santi's. our friendly waiters were glad to help us eat all the cake. on Sunday we went to Matt & Lauren's new home to grill lunch after church. then we came home and let joseph open the rest of his gifts.

the aftermath. . . .

2-year well-baby visit

Weight = 32.5 pounds - 90th percentile
Height = 36.5 inches - 95th percentile

We get to downgrade to 2% or 1% milk. We get to have our first visit to the dentist. We can tackle potty training when we think he's ready. I have my suspicions that he's not going to be ready for a little while since he shows absolutely no interest whatsoever. . . . and that's ok.

pictures

so the picture below is just a preview of some fabulous pictures taken of Joseph on Saturday morning out at Folly Beach. our friend Lila is a great photographer and was such a sweetie to give up her Saturday and spend it with Joseph and mama. (especially since she's 10 weeks preggers and would much rather be relaxing!)

i've been tagged

by my friend Rachel to fill out the following survey. now - who to tag in return? Christine & Sarah - you're it.

1. How many children do you have? 1

2. What are their ages? Joseph will be 2 on Sunday

3. What time do you start your day? around 7:30. Joseph likes to sleep

4. What do you eat for breakfast? usually an omelet made by Christopher

5. Do your kids watch TV? Yes - Joseph loves Curious George, Mickey Mouse, Super Why and Tigger & Pooh.

6. What are their favorite activities? Joseph loves to read books and drive his cars all over mama.

7. Do you get a break during the day for some you time? I usually try to get work done when Joseph naps but I fit "me time" in when I can.

8. How do you end your day? Usually watching TV with a glass of wine.

9. What is your best parenting advice or tip? I'm not sure I'm really qualified to give out advice. I just have the one and he's getting into his "twos" . . . . I probably need the advice.

chilly day

today is "autumn" in Charleston. cloudy, slightly rainy, windy and a high of 73. at our house the combination of chilly/windy means that it's colder inside than out. . . . . and currently we're at 66 degrees.
Joseph snuggled up watching Curious George this morning.
thanks to nana & papa for the warm clothes - just in time!
reading his letters off of the fridge - in no particular order . . . "x, t, s, w, a, f, z . . . "

mama's little helper

I had out my pliers and screwdriver today . . . . and so did Joseph . . .

Joseph's 2nd birthday - part 1

Joseph will be turning 2 this coming Sunday and since we were in Nashville this past weekend for a wedding and to co-host a wedding shower for the wedding that we'll be back in Nashville for in 2 weeks (crazy weddings!) - we decided to fit in a small birthday party for Joseph with his grandparents. My parents and sisters were also able to come down from Indiana so it all worked out well. It should be no surprise that the theme was "Cars." Among the gifts were a tool set (from Grandpa), books, Cars jammies, remote-control Lightening McQueen, ride-on Mater, Little People, and a fall/winter wardrobe (thanks Nana!). Joseph is so totally spoiled - in a good way of course.I couldn't leave out this picture of Nanny with the car magnet she uses when she picks up some of her friends to take to the doctor, etc.

cheese conversation

Mama: Joseph, don't you want to eat your cheese?
Joseph: no
(mama tears off a couple of pieces of string cheese and places them dangling out of her mouth)
Joseph: (giggling) mama!
Mama: yes Joseph?
Joseph: you got cheese!

Foooootball

We officially have our "little retirement plan" in training . . .
in mid-throw. . .
scrambling to regain possession . . and equally as important - we work on posing for our many endorsement deals. . . . (and holding the football that Grandpa bought for mama when she was born)

Happy Birthday Kari

Last night Joseph and I went to Santi's to celebrate Kari's birthday. We had a great time hanging out with Kari, Allison, Mimi & Heidi.

cryin'

yesterday afternoon while Joseph and I were enjoying some post-nap lounging in the living room I asked him to give me a kiss and he said "no!" I pulled a fake crying stunt to guilt him into giving me a kiss (ah yes - a mama using guilt) . . . . and he instantly got an concerned look and with his sweet voice said "mama, why cryin'?"
