Yesterday morning was spent at the beach with Jonathan & Christine and Maggie & Jack. They are moving to Ithaca, NY this week. . . . . although we're calling it a long vacation. We are going to miss them.

Musical Mobile
Our friend Eric gave Joseph this really cute mobile for his crib. Joseph loves to reach for the little stuffed bugs that hang from it and it plays him to sleep at every nap and bedtime. It has these cute leaf buttons that trigger three different songs and nature sounds. We're not very adventurous. . . I usually push the same purple leaf every time. So - a few minutes ago I took Joseph in for his nap. I pushed the purple leaf button. The usual song started playing. Joseph puckered up his face for the two-second fussing session over being put down and then snuggled up with his blanket. I left the room. I turned on the monitor. Took my coffee cup to the kitchen. Then the music stopped and the sounds of nature filled the house. I walked back into the nursery. Joseph is kneeling in his crib with a cute dimpled finger on the green leaf button and grinning from ear to ear. Little Booger. . . . .

This coffee table is so much fun. . . . except Momma cleaned it off.

High-chair fun
Joseph is doing great at feeding himself finger foods. And he loves green veggies - notice all the lima beans are gone. (we should actually show you a picture of the seat of the high-chair after we have taken him out . . . a few of the lima beans showed up there.)Thank goodness for that little ledge under the tray! Otherwise - where would Joseph hook his little monkey toes?!

Joseph's new play corner
Our friend Dara gave us these great foam, inter-locking blocks for Joseph to play on. So we set him up with his own corner of the living room.

Joseph's big weekend adventure
Joseph had a pretty eventful weekend. On Saturday morning we took our usual walk down to the market for crepes. Then in the afternoon we headed over to Linnea's with our community group and a few others from church for a pool party/picnic to celebrate some birthdays. Joseph does love that pool.
On Sunday afternoon we went out to Middleton Plantation for the Spoleto Finale. Joseph enjoyed the walk around the grounds and visiting the sheep, goats, horses and peacocks. He was also very interested in knowing that part of "The Patriot" was filmed here. However, his favorite part of the evening was the concert by the Charleston Symphony and the fireworks show. We were a little afraid that he'd be scared but he stared in awe the entire time.

Durn table. . .
Joseph is doing great at sitting. . . . he even sits himself up now. But every now and then he still gets a little wibbly. This morning he was still waking up and trying to get his balance when he face planted into the coffee table. There were tears. But, being quite a tough little guy, he was fine a few minutes later and wanted back down on the floor. Where he proceeded to sit up by the table, look right at it and yell a string of sounds that I can only imagine meant this . . . "Durn table! Quit hitting me!"
